Something has to make you go!

By January 1, 2016 No Comments

In a previous blog I shared that Abraham in the Bible is an example of how God initiates change in our lives. I want to share with you the first of 2 things Abraham needed to effect lasting change and can help you to make change in any area of your life.

Motivation is emotional. God told Abraham to “go”! Change is not only an intellectual decision or an informed choice. Something motivates the change before we make a choice. The decision to change occurs when the pain of staying the same is greater than the pain of changing. Likewise when the reward of change outweighs the cost of not changing, we gladly embrace it. Even God was motivated by emotion when He decided to change the world. God so LOVED the World that He gave His Son. Love made Him go! Emotions alone can lead to making improper change, for sure. However, decisions made without passion will lead to short-lived modification. Think about it, every major life change has great emotion involved from, choosing a vocation, marry a spouse, having a child, and planning the end of a career. If you don’t feel it, you will never fulfill it!
